The City of Palermo, for its urban structure of Arab origin, full of narrow streets and alleys, is particularly suited to urban trekking. The Cape and Beati Paoli Tour is inspired by what is the story of Blessed Paul,(Beati Paoli), Friars at days, and secret society at night, big source of many stories mixed with legends, that have always fueled the collective imagination of Palermo.
We begin our beautiful urban trekking going to Roger VII street, a shopping and elegant area in Palermo, we pass through the via P.pe di Belmonte to continue to Piazza G. Verdi in order to stop and admire the great Theatre Massimo Vittorio Emanuele (exterior only). Story of the Theater.
We go on walking towards the Porta Carini, entrance to Capo market, representing today the largest and most active open air market in the sale of fish, meat, fruits and vegetables. In the interior of the market we visit the Baroque Church of the Immaculate Conception, the Gothic-Renaissance Church of Sant' Ippolito and, in the same style, the Church of Nostra Maria della Mercede (Our Lady of Mercy). Finally we reach the cave where the Beati Paoli met, in the homonymous square.
We will retrace the history of the Beati Paoli who had in this place the seat of their clandestine nocturnal meetings.
Then we continue to the Church of S.S. Quaranta Martiri Pisani (the Forty Martyrs SS Pisani), Settangeli Square and Cathedral of Palermo. Visit of the Cathedral. We go on through the Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the main road linking the town from the mountain to the beach (Monreale with La Cala - the ancient port of Palermo).
We have a stop at Vigliena Square, also known as Four Canti, or Theatre of the Sun, then continuing to Via Roma, a main axis that connects the old with the new city. We pass through the historical market Vucciria by the old flight of steps Caracciolo, to arrive at a private residence located inside a building of XVI century and well restored. There you will enjoy your food experience of typical dishes, as if you were ''at home''.
In case of unavailability of the private residence, the lunch will be made at the Old Focacceria San Francesco in the homonymous square. After lunch you will be escorted to the Piazza San Domenico. End of services.
