Programm:

Meeting point h 12,00 a.m in San Domenico Square (piazza San Domenico).

Tour of Vucciria, the most ancient and traditional open air market in Palermo. There we will buy and taste some ingredients and food that we will cook for lunch.

H 12,40 a.m we proceed to go home, two steps away from the market. The apartment is in charimin building of XVI century, totally renewed in 2012. There, in the historic hearth of Palermo, you will enjoy tour lunch.

panelle (fritters spleen)

sfincione (typical sicilian tasty pizza)

anelletti al forno con ragu’ (baked pasta with meat sauce)

caponata (cooked salad made with eggplants, capers, tomato sauce and olives)

quaresimali (sicilian almonds buiscuits) and wine Zibibbo

• cassatelle of San Vito lo Capo (cakes filled with ricotta cream, fired at the moment)

• cannoli of Piana degli Albanesi ''scomposti''

 

we drink: Sicilian white wine Grecanico IGT, typical red wine nero d' Avola, or bier or coke, mineral water

panelle e crocche Panelle and crocchè: Panelle are pancakes made with chick flour and water.

sfincione sfincione: sfincione born in Palermo, and the equivalent of the Sicilian pizza. The name derives from the Latin word "spongia" (sponge) or from the Arabic "isfang" (pancake). It is a soft bread base covered by a very tasty tomato sauce with lots of onions, anchovies, and ‘’caciocavallo’’ cheese (typical cheese of Palermo).

baked pasta anelletti al ragu’: better known as "baked pasta": pasta with ragu' (meat, peas, eggs, tomato sauce, cheese) and baked in the oven. It is considered as a main dish.

 

caponata caponata: it is prepared by fryed vegetables (mostly eggplants), topped with tomato sauce (sweet and sour), celery, onion, olives and capers.

quaresimali quaresimali: classic sicilian buiscuits, crunchy buiscuits with almonds from Avola, to combine with sweet wines such as Zibibbo.

 

cassatella di san vito lo capo cassatelle di San Vito lo Capo: Typical cakes from San Vito lo Capo, filled with delicious ricotta cream and fried at the moment.

 

cannoli di piana degli albanesi scoppati cannoli di Piana scoppati: it is a variant of traditional cannoli, according to our secret recipe.

zibibbo winezibibbo: sweet Sicilian wine, excellent for accompanying sweets made with almonds.

 

Lunch for 20 persons max.
